It was way back in 2000 that R&B girl band Misteeq hit the charts with their debut single “Why?” The band was made up of Alesha Dixon, Su-Elise Nash and Sabrina Washington. All five singles from their platinum debut album, Lickin’ on Both Sides, reached the Top Ten and the band was nominated for both Brit and MOBO awards. Misteeq’s s album Eye Candy spawned their biggest hit, “Scandalous,”. In total Misteeq had two studio albums and nine singles together. The group broke up in 2005 amidst financial problems with the Telstar label.
Alesha Dixon – Born: October 07, 1978 in Hertfordshire, England
After the band split in 2005, Alesha persued a solo career. She released two singles from the album, Fired Up in 2006 but after limited success she was dropped by Polydor. Her inclusion on the hugely popular BBC show Strictly Come Dancing at the end of 2007 managed to steer her career back on track. A favorite with judges and fans throughout the series, she was crowned the winner alongside partner Matthew Cutler. Alesha will be re-releasing her second album which will feature her new single, “To Love Again”. In July 2009, the BBC announced that Alesha Dixon was replacing Arlene Phillips on the panel of judges on Strictly Come Dancing.
Sabrina Washington: Born 27 October 1978 in Harlesden, London
Sabrina has joined the 2009 celebrity line up for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! Outspoken Sabrina could be one to stir things up in the camp. Only last year she faced criticism of being jealous of former Mis-Teeq bandmate Alesha Dixon: “A lot of people say Alesha should have stuck to MC-ing because her voice isn’t that strong and I agree.”
Sabrina entered the jungle by being taken up in a plane then told she had to jump out at 12,000ft.
